Virtuous Visions Helps You Follow Up Your Interview

No matter how well (or how poorly) a job interview goes, you must follow up in a timely manner if you want to entertain the possibility of a job offer. Our Virtuous Visions associates have compiled a few recommendations for follow-up. Use them to stay in the running.
As soon as you return home from your interview, record every detail you can remember about the meeting. Include the hiring manager’s name, everything that was discussed, ideas and regrets you have, and anything else that may even be slightly relevant. Also, keep track of new thoughts that come to you in the hours and days following the meeting.
When you think you documented just about everything, you can start the process of analysis. Assessment is a regular activity at Virtuous Visions, so we know asking questions is the best way to start the process. Based on the discussion with the interviewer, is the company facing any pain points? What can you offer to help solve these issues? How can you use this information to reinforce your value in your follow-up?
Your thank-you card will be most effective if it is personalized and handwritten. Be sure to thank the hiring manager for the opportunity, of course, and mention a priority that was addressed during the interview. This will help jog the person’s memory, and show that you were paying attention. Before signing off, describe a past accomplishment that illustrates how you can be useful to the company. Send the note within a few days of the interview.
Your friends at Virtuous Visions wish you the best as you take the next step in your career. Visit our Career page to learn more!
